The fact that Gates is backing off his demagoguery and trying to make nice underscores this. Obama called Gates and begged him to let it go, because it was making Obama look bad. He knows he fucked up and he's panicking.
His career has never been better; his department, his union, and the residents of his State see him as a hero right now. Kow-towing to Obama and Gates would do him no good. He's not going to accept, and he shouldn't.
Did you read the link posted on page one? If that's backing off I'd like to have seen him in full attack mode. Remember, Gates is buddies with Obama. This is like when Otter got ambushed in Animal House.
Everyone who matters supports him right now because they know that he was just doing his job. If he goes to the WH and comes out with some "We Are The World" bullshit he'll lose all credibility. He'd be an idiot to go.
Well, before he was in front of every camera he could find screaming "racism" and threatening to sue. Now he's willing to meet with the guy and have a beer (Crowley, BTW, is the only one of those three who regularly drinks beer). Obama told Gates to shut it because he knows the further this goes, the worse it gets for Obama. For a man who promoted a "post-racial America", Obama continues to show his true racist colors.

I don't see what going to the white house is going to solve. The black will never admit TNB in this century, everything will always be the white mans fault.
Obama desperately needs it. Right now, he looks like a giant, racist asshole. He needs them to make nice so he can try to convince white America that he isn't a bigot. Too late.
Good points. I haven't really followed the day-to-day drama of this so I didn't see Gates lipping off. I know that Jackson and Sharpton jumped on it like fat men on a donut though.
I agree completely with your last sentence, unfortunately. Obama isn't after the elimination of racism, he wants to get even.
Source? I said you're just generally wrong. I've never seen you win an argument here. You've proven to be an irrational, illogical, ill-informed know-nothing. Guessing right about a future event doesn't change that.
